Founded in 2016, Barber Black Sheep is a whimsical idea turned into reality. It is the brain child of a mother and a very concerned aunt who were tired of each haircut for their little one turning into a traumatising experience. Ask new parents where they dread taking their child to and you’re most likely to get two answers; the doctor’s clinic and the salon. Yes, haircuts can be a nerve wrecking experience for children and their parents. Not here at Barber Black Sheep!
Built on the tenets of play therapy and designed by a counselling psychologist, the play area attached in the salon is a much needed add on to the kid’s salon. In fact, that is what makes Barber Black Sheep unique! The founders believe that childhood is best lived without any inhibitions. We whole heartedly welcome all children with their unique quirks and tantrums. We also understand the worries and tensions a parent goes through, some of which can often seem mundane but are definitely not. From a simple haircut to a birthday party, from creatively engaging a child to giving a warm, inviting and comforting space to each family; Barber Black Sheep has done it all, by earning relationships and not just clients 😊
We are often asked why children need to have a salon designed specifically for them. The fact that parents are willing to travel from all over the place just to get their child a haircut from our salon is testimony. One of the first mundans we even did was for a child from Dehradun whose parents travelled all the way to Gurugram. Apart from these anecdotes, there is also a scientific reason for why we need more child-friendly spaces when it comes to haircuts.

Co-founder & psychologist Saakshi believes that when it comes to children’s play, the simpler the better. With her research in play therapy and her experience with raising her two sons, she knows the value of pretend play and motor skill development in early childhood. The play space has been designed to give each child a chance to use their imagination, to exercise skill and revel in the joy of unstructured free play. From play dates to family get togethers, our play area has been a safe haven for many families across the years.
Once your child gets through a haircut smoothly and is busy playing in our play area, you deserve that cup of coffee or a nicely grilled sandwich! Our café serves home style food and even offers a menu curated for your little ones. During birthdays and other celebrations, our café turns into a gourmet kitchen and offers a vast menu that has been loved by our patrons for years. The café also offers the kind of customisation that you wouldn’t find everywhere.
I took my 7mo niece for her mundan ceremony, and the team at barber black sheep surpassed my expectations. They were calm, patient and professional. The barber was able to cut all the hair very very quickly, so as to not cause her any added distress. Highly recommend!
They do incredible work with kids! Went for my son’s mundan and they did the job like a charm! The entire thing was over even before we knew it! Clean and hygienic place with ample space for kids to play!
